The Development Center of the Lika-Senj County has made a significant leap in improving its capacities by presenting a new fruit processing line. It is a modern system that includes an elevator with a mill, a hydraulic press, and an advanced pasteurizer with the ability to fill bottles and a bag-in-box system. This technological solution, worth 32 thousand euros, was financed with funds from the county budget, further confirming the county's strategic commitment to the development of local economy and agriculture.
New opportunities for domestic producers
The capacity of the new line allows for the processing of up to 1000 kilograms of fruit per hour, making this equipment highly efficient. The daily production capacity reaches around 1000 liters of juice, providing local family farms (OPGs) the opportunity to finalize their own products. With this step, OPGs can market high-quality, natural juices without preservatives and added sugar, ultimately increasing the value of their products and opening new business opportunities.
Support from the county authorities
At the ceremonial presentation of the new equipment, held on December 19, 2024, the Lika-Senj County Mayor Ernest Petry and his deputy Jasna Orešković Brkljačić were present. Mayor Petry emphasized the importance of continuous support to local producers and pointed out that this investment is just one of many planned initiatives to improve regional production.
"Lika-Senj County remains committed to supporting the Development Center and local farmers. The new fruit processing line will enable them to transform their products into high-quality final goods, increasing their competitiveness in the market. In the upcoming fiscal year, we plan to further invest in similar projects that promote the economic development of our region," stated Petry.
Modernization as an incentive for competitiveness
The Director of the Development Center, Mile Milković, also expressed gratitude to the county authorities for their support and investments that enable development and modernization. According to his words, the new equipment will significantly improve the Center's operations, allow for greater production efficiency, and raise standards in natural juice production.
"This project is an example of how the joint cooperation of local authorities and the Development Center can contribute to creating conditions for the successful development of domestic producers. The new fruit processing line is not just an investment in technology but also in the future of local agriculture," Milković said.
Promotion of local products
The ceremony concluded with a tasting of freshly prepared apple juice produced on the new line. The quality and natural aroma of the juice impressed the attendees, further highlighting the potential of this investment in the promotion of local products. The event attracted significant attention, and participants expressed confidence that the new equipment would significantly contribute to the development of agriculture and the economy in the county.
This technological breakthrough not only allows domestic producers to create added value but also positions them as competitive participants in the natural product market. Initiatives like this are key to the sustainable development of rural areas, and Lika-Senj County is leading the way in the implementation of such projects.
