On Friday, November 22, 2024, in the magnificent setting of the Crystal Hall of the Kvarner Hotel in Opatija, the closing ceremony of Croatian Tourism Day was held, the most significant annual gathering of experts and enthusiasts from the tourism sector. During this prestigious event, the Annual Croatian Tourism Awards were presented, and the special recognition – the title of Croatian Tourism Champion for 2024 – was awarded to the city of Poreč.

This award confirms Poreč as the leading destination on the Croatian tourism map. The city stands out with its continuous development, a diverse range of offerings, excellent service, and a unique combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and modern infrastructure. All of this makes Poreč an unmissable destination for visitors from all over the world.

The award was received, to the applause of those present, by the Mayor of Poreč, Loris Peršurić. The recognition was presented to him by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Plenković. The thunderous applause from the gathered tourism professionals from across the country further confirmed Poreč’s status as a role model in Croatian tourism.

The Mayor Loris Peršurić dedicated this award to everyone involved in tourism: “While we often talk about investments, numbers, and projects, the heart of our tourism is our people. The Director of the Poreč Tourist Board, Nenad Velenik, pointed out that this award is not only recognition but also an incentive for further development. “Poreč is a destination that continuously sets standards. Our diverse offer – from cultural heritage, sports and recreational facilities, to eno-gastronomic experiences – makes us an indispensable point on the tourist map. This award is the result of the joint work and dedication of everyone involved in our city’s tourism story – from employees in tourism, hospitality, hoteliers, and entrepreneurs, to local authorities and the community. We are proud that the effort and vision we have invested over the years have been recognized at the highest level.”
